Looks like these posts could be a regular thing, so I thought I'd gather them all together and put them on one page.

 Maddy lives in a whole other world. I love her approach to life - it's so...odd! She comes out with such funny things I thought I might christen them 'Maddyisms'. Here's an example:

Knowitall

Ben (going into the back yard for a cig): Ah, Maddy, I didn't know you were out here on the trampoline!

Maddy: I did.

Oooookay....!

 A Strange 'to-do' List

Maddy: I'm bored.

Ben: Surely there's something you can do?

Maddy: No, I've done everything that I got up to do this morning: I've tidied up, done the dishes, annoyed Brenna...

 

  Drama Queen

I've been on the kids' backs about the way they've had a tendency to ignore me lately. I'll issue an instruction and they'll nod, and then continue what they're doing.

So it's pouring outside, but Maddy wanted to go out, and I told her she could if she wore her new coat. She was standing there while I zipped up the coat, and her attention strayed to the movie "Happy Feet" which was on the tv.

Me: Be careful not to get this dirty won't you?

Maddy: silence (engrossed in movie)

Me: Be careful...Maddy, you're not listening - pay attention. You didn't hear what I said did you?

Maddy: um, erm...

Me: I said 'be careful not to get your coat dirty'

Maddy: Yeah I know - I was going to say that but I was just using dramatic pause.

 That's an 8 year old using 'dramatic pause'! That isn't even in my vocabulary - where does she get these from!
