Long overdue procrastinating waffle

ConfusedMy apologies for not keeping the waffling up.  I have been waffling elsewhere however.  Lots of things going on.  I've stepped up the pace on the girls' homeschooling.  Towards the end of  'last term' (is it sacrilege to talk of 'terms' when homeschooling?!) we got pretty slack. Maddy has come ahead in leaps and bounds and I have no trouble providing work for her as I'm a primary school teacher by trade, but Brenna's high school work is another story.

Trying to teach Brenna her high school stuff has brought it home to me how much useless crap they actually teach you there.  For instance, plotting stuff on graphing planes.  I took one look at that page of the text book and my brain oozed out my eyeholes.  On Friday we tackled negative integers.  Me and negative integer rules are like me and quantum physics rules - we should not be mentioned in the same sentence.  I don't remember ever having to substitute a's and b's or xyz for numbers in my life, other than to get through high school algebra.  Brenna is one of those lucky ones though that can pick up things easily.  I give her a project to do and she produces super duper work with all the bells and whistles in half the time I expect it to take.  Luckily for her, intelligence genes seem to skip a generation but she happens to be the generation who received them.

Reborn dollI've been doing other things too.  I've been designing websites, helping Ben to run a new ebay venture, and cooking babies in ovens.  Seriously.  I've tried taking up the art of 'reborning' - redecorating vinyl dolls so that they look as realistic as possible.  It's a lot harder than I thought it'd be.  Reborn dollMy doll's head is pretty splotchy and looks like a death mask with a rash.  It takes many layers of paint (heat set in the oven) to get the required effect.  I invited a friend over for lunch the other day and had to pull a tray covered in baby parts out of the oven to heat the bread.  Interesting discussion then followed!

The real reason you lucky readers are getting a post from me this morning is because I'm sitting here procrastinating.  I have to do my taxes tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it.  I'm the most unorganised person in the universe and all my receipts, group certificates etc are in 20 different places about the house - my 'safe places' in which I stuff things thinking 'I'll keep these here so I won't lose them', and then I promptly forget about that particular 'safe place'.  My accountant appointment is tomorrow morning so I'll have to pull my finger out, but it won't be a pretty sight!

The Voki

I love your Aussie accent. Need to hear more.

:)

Hehe...that isn't really me

Hehe...that isn't really me - it's some British chick the program makes say whatever you type in.  Pretty cool huh?

Good luck at the accountant,

Good luck at the accountant, and as a bookkeeper I can tell you, you read like my worst nightmare! lol

Can only imagine the conversation following that tray. My MIL used to make porcelaine dolls, gorgeous but so many details, layers, etc.  Lots of patience needed, that's for sure.

Thank you!  The appointment

Thank you!  The appointment went so much better than I thought - I'm getting a refund - yay!  I had pictured myself driving home depressed and wondering where I was going to get more money from to pay overdue taxes.  I could have hugged my accountant - worth every penny she charges!  She claimed all sorts of things I had no idea could be claimed - she's a miracle worker.  I think my luck is finally changing :)
